The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Tues., Sept. 15, construction will commence on a $1.7 million dollar bridge replacement project along La. 975 (Whiskey Bay Hwy) between La. 190 to I-10 in St. Martin Parish.

This project consists of the removal of two existing timber bridges, installation of two new concrete slab span bridges and related work.

Work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Beginning on Sept. 15 at 7 a.m., La. 975 will be closed to thru traffic, including emergency vehicles. This road closure is necessary to allow crews to remove and replace the existing bridge at two separate bridge sites at the locations listed below: Road Closure 1 Location: La. 975 (5 miles north of I-10).

Road Closure 2 Location: La. 975 (4.4 miles north of I-10).

The Whiskey Bay Atchafalaya Boat Launch will be accessible to the public from the I-10 side of La. 975 throughout the course of the project. There will be no access to the boat launch from U.S. 190.

The posted detour route will include I-10, La. 76, La. 77, and U.S. 190.

The project is estimated to be complete in August 2026.
