Baton Rouge — In honor of National Farm to School Month this October, Seeds to Success: The Louisiana Farm to School Program and the LSU AgCenter are inviting K through 12 students across Louisiana to showcase their creativity in the 2025 Louisiana Farm to School Art Contest. Students are encouraged to explore Louisiana agriculture and create artwork featuring foods grown in the state, including fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and seafood.
The contest opens Aug. 12 and closes Oct. 17. It is open to all public and private school students in grades K through 12. Thirteen winners will be chosen to showcase in the 2026 Louisiana Farm to School calendar, highlighting the state’s agricultural diversity and the farmers who make it possible.
Students can draw inspiration from Louisiana- grown foods in their natural environment. Examples include produce growing in a field, livestock grazing, a freshly harvested crop or a favorite dish at the table, such as a baked sweet potato or a strawberrywatermelon smoothie.
The contest gives students a fun way to explore and celebrate Louisiana agriculture. The calendar features winning artwork each month throughout the year and offers guidance on seasonal produce, as well as monthly planting information and much more. It highlights student creativity while inspiring students and families to connect with the food they eat and the farmers who grow it.
For contest rules, submission guidelines and entry forms, visit Seeds to Success News and Opportunities or email louisianafarmtoschool@ agcenter.lsu. edu. Calendars featuring the winning artwork will be available for purchase through the LSU AgCenter storefront in late 2025.
Seeds to Success: The Louisiana Farm to School Program is made possible through a partnership between the LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Department of Education Division of Nutrition Support, with funding from the United States Department of Agriculture. The program helps improve access to local foods in schools, provides training and resources for educators and school nutrition staff and strengthens connections between Louisiana farmers and schools.
