An Article of Faith

What if I told you that there are four things that God doesn’t know! Wait, don’t stop reading, let me make my case and I think you will agree and maybe get happy about it.

The first thing that God doesn’t know is: God doesn’t know a sin that he does not hate. I know hate is a strong word, but God hates sin because sin is what separates man, those who are created in his image, from himself. God and man had perfect fellowship in the garden until the snake slithered in. His first weapon was to sow doubt about God in man’s mind claiming that God’s word was and is not trustworthy. Those immortal words were uttered, “Has God really said you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil?” Yes, God really said, and he meant it but man did not believe it, so sinned entered and with it came it’s wages-death. Sin is all rebellion against a loving God, and yes, God hates it.

Second, while God hates sin, God doesn’t know a sinner that he does not love. John 3:16 declares that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life. The incredible redemption story was centered in the fact that God incarnate became a man to pay for every sin every sinner every committed. Why? Simple God is love and love always gives. God gave the ultimate gift- he gave his own son to take our place on the cross at Calvary. Which leads us to the third thing that God doesn’t know.

God doesn’t know another way to heaven except through his son. The liar from the garden will try to make you believe that there are many ways to heaven but be assured there is only one. Jesus declared, I am the way, the truth and the life, there is no other way to the father except through me. Only a perfect sacrifice could atone for the sins of man, and the sacrifice had to come from a man- a perfect one. Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, lived a perfect life and then laid it down to pay for the sin debt of man and only faith in that sacrifice will pay the way for eternity. When Jesus died, on the cross his words were “it is finished, it is paid in full!”

Finally, God doesn’t know a better day to receive the salvation of Jesus than today! If you have been wandering in sin or lost in religion trying to work your way to heaven, ask the Lord for the gift of salvation today. One of the greatest examples of this faith is the thief on the cross who asked and received salvation simply moments before he died. Think about this man who somehow realized, while hanging on a cross, that the man besides him had the keys to heaven in his hand and simply asked for that incredible gift. Jesus looked at this thief, who had placed total trust in him, and uttered those immortal words: Today, you will be with me in paradise! Maybe today you too will be glad that there are four things that God doesn’t know.
