I’m happy to announce that Bingo is Back! It was a bit hectic for awhile, especially for me as I was trying to keep up with the latest developments. After the previous Bingo callers/hosts called it quits, it looked like it would be a tough job getting someone to run the games which are pretty popular. But, a person has been found and the next Bingo game will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 2, same time, same place. I’m excited and have told the new person I’d be happy to help. I’m sure things will be different but we’ll get used to that. The previous hosts did a great job of running the games.
Meanwhile, the Chair Yoga has now been set to begin on Sept. 9 with a class at 5:45 p.m. so people who work can make a class. Those will take place every subsequent Tuesday at that time. Then, for the rest of us, who prefer daytime classes, Chair Yoga will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. for the rest of September. We’ll see how things work out and go from there. I have to say, that Dee Hymel has been a regular dynamo helping me get Yoga classes organized and coming with all sorts of wonderful things. At one time, we had talked about having Games for Seniors but kind of let that slide in favor of the Yoga classes. But Dee has games ready for Senior Games if and when we figure out when, where and how to do that. She is a jewel. Actually, the whole recreation board has been wonderful. So accommodating.
Meanwhile, it is hot again, still. Every day the temperature rises into the mid 90s, it thunders, the sky gets black and that’s it. Not a drop of rain! Or when it does rain, it comes down hard but doesn’t last long.
I go to the boat landing with the dog late in the afternoon when no body is there and at least we get out of the house some. She sniffs what I assume is stray cat and dog residue and I work on Cryptoquiz puzzles.
Yesterday , a friend joined me with his dogs. He usually stays atop the levee but he is very tall and said he didn’t want to be a lightning pole. The sky had been flashing with lightning and a big black cloud seemed to be approaching. It turned out to be nothing. Not here anyway.
I am waiting for a book to arrive at the Pierre Part library. Someone recommended The Big Burn which I believe is about a fire in a national park back in the 20’s which led to President Teddy Roosevelt starting a National Park system. Not sure if I have that right but I’m looking forward to the book. The Pierre Part library is good about getting ILL (Inter Library Loan) books. I have a female friend with whom I share book titles and a nephew who tells me books he’s reading. Then my up-state New York friends send me stories from their friends which are not always books but certainly interesting. That’s where I learned about the Supai Indian mail delivery. My New York friend was born in Czechoslovakia in l940 or 41 and was young but remembers some when the Nazis took over her country. She has led a fascinating life.
My sister just sent me a link to a YouTube video about a p ilot who flies around hunting for cemeteries and telling about them. And she is taking an Agawa Canyon Train tour soon and sent me a video of that. So , if I ever get my necessary work done, I’ll relax and see what this pilot has to say about lost cemeteries.
