AR bookcase donated to Stephensville Elem.

AR bookcase donated to Stephensville Elem.

To promote reading in the elementary schools, a program called Accelerated Reading or AR has been established. Students read approved books, keep track of the number of words they read, tag the book in their name and at the end of the year participating students are recognized for the quantity of AR books and words they have read.

In Stephensville Elementary, the AR program has recently been enhanced by the donation of an AR box which stands in front of the school under the overhang and behind the fence for safety, shelter and easy access.

The box was made and donated by Scully ‘s Metal Fabrication business in Stephensville. It has shelves for AR books of varying levels of difficulty with a gentle reminder to users to treat the box gently, read and return a book so others can enjoy reading it and also gain AR points. The front of the box is decorated with a Fleur de Lis motif.

Kudos to Scullly’s Metal Fabrication for their wonderful donation to Stephensville Elementary School. Another example of why this family and community supported school is one of the best in the parish . .
