A 2024 study published in the Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology indicated that approximately one in nine children in the United States have ever been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The study also found that 6.5 million children had ADHD at the time of publication. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls, and a significant percentage of youngsters (30 percent) with the condition do not receive medication treatment or behavioral treatment for the condition.
