BB man arrested on animal sexual abuse charge, possession of child sexual abuse material

Theriot

Breaux Bridge – Agents with state Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a man from Breaux Bridge for sexually abusing an animal and possession of child sexual abuse material. Kerwin Paul Theriot, 56, of Hammock Lane in Breaux Bridge, was arrested for violating:

• 4 counts of LA R.S.14:81.1 Child Sexual Abuse Material (Felony); • and 21 counts of LA R.S.14:89.3 Sexual abuse of an animal (Felony).

Agents initially got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The arrest was a result of a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations. “We’re taking these sick people off of our streets. The work never ends,” Murrill said in a statement. “Great work by my Cyber Crime Unit, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations for their hard work on this case.”

Theriot was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

His bond is pending assignment.

The investigation is ongoing.
