Friday, August 15, we celebrate the Assumption of our Blessed Mother. How fitting a feast to honor the woman who gave birth to our Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.
When called on by the Angel Gabriel with a message from God the Father asking Mary to bear the Child of Salvation, she immediately accepted her Fiat. Her words to him; “Be it done to me according to Your word”.
The honor of giving birth to Jesus and raising him from birth to manhood was, I’m certain, a joyous yet challenging event in her life. She never faltered, and gave the best of herself to the Child who was to be the salvation of humanity.
In the end, She endured the suffering that was laid upon Jesus. She felt every whip, felt every thorn, every blow of the nails driven through His hands and feet, and the spear in His side.
How fitting it is, then, that She be rewarded with the honor of being Assumed: Body and Soul to the Heavenly Realm. Let us turn our thoughts and prayers, then, to Mary, our Mother, asking for help and salvation in times of trouble we face in our everyday lives on Earth.
May we be diligent in our love, our prayers and our petitions to Our Lady of Peace.
She will listen, she will answer.
It’s our duty to our Blessed Mother.
Many Blessings! Pope Huval
