COA membership meet is September 17

St. Martin Council on Aging will hold its Annual Membership meeting on Wednesday, September 17 at 9:00 a.m., at the Sydnie Mae Durand Activity Center located at 391 Cannery Road (Breaux Bridge).

Elections for SMCOA Board of Directors will be conducted and Administrative staff will provide annual program and financial reports, and respond to questions about services offered to seniors in our parish.

The doors will open at 8:00 a.m., so participants may enjoy a great cup of coffee and socialize before the meeting begins.

Members and nonmembers can attend the meeting.

Non-members are allowed to participate, but are not allowed to vote at the annual meeting nor can they serve on the Board of Directors.

Membership is open to all residents of St. Martin Parish who have reached the age of majority. There are no membership fees and sign up is easy – just fill out a membership card. You can pick up a card at the St. Martin Council on Aging located at 391 Cannery Road in Breaux Bridge or call (337) 332-3063 to request that a card be mailed to you. Please note that your membership card must be received by SMCOA no later than Wednesday, September 3, 2025, to ensure your name is listed on the membership roster and that you are allowed to vote. This is a great way to have your voice heard regarding services provided by the SMCOA.

Four seats on the SMCOA Board of Directors, with a three-year term of office, will be elected by the general membership during the Annual meeting: District 2; District 6; District 7; and District 9.

Nominations can be submitted in two ways:

•contact Ms. Jodie Orgeron, Chairperson of the Board Development Committee, via SMCOA at (337) 332-3063

•present your nomination from the floor on election day.
