Every year Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church provides Vacation Bible School for First Grade through Sixth Grade free of charge. This year’s VBS is scheduled for Monday, June 9th through Friday, June 13th from 8:30am to 11:30am. We will have Family Night Friday, June 13th at 6pm with a program for the children and a hotdog and chili fellowship to follow.
This year’s VBS Scripture: Psalm 34:3 (NKJV), “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His Name together.”
The VBS Motto: “Made to Magnify God!”
The Christ Connection: “Jesus, God the Son, created everything and holds everything together. Even though we have all sinned and broken our relationship with God, Jesus loves us so much He gave His life as the Sacrifice for our sins” (Romans 5:8).
The VBS Theme: “Magnified! Discovering the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things.”
God is not only the Creator of all things, but He also cares about His creation right down to the smallest detail. The Bible tells us people are the most significant part of God’s creation (John 3:16). God created you and knows every detail about you–right down to the design of your fingerprints and the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30)!
Magnified! VBS will encourage kids to look closely at the details of God’s amazing world and magnify, or proclaim the greatness of God. God made us, cares about us, loves us, forgives us, and is faithful to keep all His promises to us. We were made to Magnify God!
Each morning, all the children will start at Worship Rally Magnified where they will learn the Theme Song, Recite the Pledges to the American and Christian Flags, Review the Motto, Theme Verse, and take A Voluntary Offering in support of the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, LA.
From there, the children break into age-graded Bible Study at “Treemendous Bible Study” where they will learn God created everything there is, and yet He still wants to spend time with them because they are important to God. They will also learn about God’s care, love, forgiveness, and faithfulness from selected Bible stories each day.
From Bible Study, children will rotate to each of these areas: Monarch Missions, Wildflower Crafts, SongBird Music, Raindrop Recreation, and Honeycomb Snacks.
Every year we look forward to sharing Jesus with the children of our community. We look forward to having them again this summer!
“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so He could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Him.
“When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples. He said to them, ‘Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.’
“Then He took the children in His arms and placed His hands on their heads and blessed them” (Mark 10:13–16, NLT).
