Cecilia, Breaux Bridge athletes qualify for state track meet

Cecilia, Breaux Bridge athletes qualify for state track meet
in 1:34.42. Breaux Bridge’s Ashlynn Joseph, Daravin Noel, Madisyn Scheiern and Dalaisha Robicheaux finished sixth in the girls’ 4x400 relay in a personal-best 4:34.96. Brooklyn Reed, Lydee Williamson, Katlyn Nickens and Khilayns Broussard finished eighth in the 4x800 in a personalbest 12:32.43. Katlyn Nickens was 12th in the 1,600 (7:58.08). Alaycea Landry was 10th in the high jump at 3 feet, 8 inches.

Brusly – Cecilia, Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville Senior High competed at their respective regional track meets this past week, looking to qualify athletes for the LHSAA Outdoor State Track & Field Meet this week at LSU.

The top three finishers in each event at regionals qualify for the state meet.

Breaux Bridge and Cecilia competed at the Class 4A, Region 2 meet in Brusly on Wednesday, while St. Martinville was at the Class 3A, Region 2 meet at McNeese State University on April 28.

Cecilia’s London Thi qualified for state in three events, winning the girls’ discus, placing second in the javelin and third in the shot put and Jermaine Davis qualified in two events, placing second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Brent Gordon Jr. of Cecilia won the 110 hurdles to qualify for state.

Kassi Martin and Layla McGee of Cecilia also qualified for state in the throws, placing second in the shot put and third in the discus, respectively.

Cecilia’s Braylon Calais qualified for state by placing third in the 110 hurdles.

The Bulldogs also qualified for state in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays, winning the 4x400 and placing third in the other two relays.

Jaboryan John of Breaux Bridge qualified for state in both the 400 and the 200 meter dashes.

Kaleb Theriot placed second in the javelin and Josiah Armentor was second in the pole vault to qualify for state. Christian Camacho qualified by placing third in the 1,600.

Breaux Bridge also qualified for state with a second-place finish in the boys’ 4x400-meter relay.

The state meet will be held Thursday-Saturday at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium with Class A, B and C schools competing Thursday, Class 2A and 3A on Friday and Class 4A and 5A on Saturday.

Class 4A, Region 2

Brusly – At the Class 4A regional at Brusly High School on Wednesday, Thi won the discus at 117 feet, 3 inches, was second in the javelin at 92-8 and third in the shot put at 34-0.

Martin was second in the shot put at 34-9. McGee was third in the discus at 94-5. Megan Girod was ninth in the javelin at 80-2.

Izabella Johnson was sixth in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches.

Laynie Hill was seventh in the long jump at 15-5 1/2 and 11th in the triple jump at 28-6. Lelani Savoy was 12th in the triple jump at 279.

In the running events for Cecilia, N i k kie Devillier was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (52.12 seconds) and Synae Howard was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.46).

Caydah Hardy was seventh in the 3,200 in 14:39.15 and eighth in the 1,600 meters in 6:30.63. Kali Robin was ninth in the 3,200 (15:04.71) and 10th in the 1,600 (6:39.03).

Da’Lenza Williams was ninth in the 200-meter dash (27.70 seconds) and Lundyn Girard was 10th (30.01).

Brailey Brasseaux finished ninth in the girls’ 800 meters in 2:58.78.

Cecilia ran a personal- best 1:47.61 to finish fourth in the 4x200 with Jayla Rossyion, Williams, Asia Batiste and Darianna Briscoe running the four legs.

Rossyion, Kristen Hamilton, Olivia Chavis and Briscoe also ran a personal-best 4:16.26 to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay.

The 4x800 team of Brasseaux, Zoey Huval, Sadie Fruge and Breana Fruge ran a personalbest 12:16.06 to finish sixth.

Devillier, Williams, Batiste and Briscoe finished eighth in the 4x100 (52.07).

For the Bulldogs, Gordon won the 110 hurdles in 15.31 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 38.52 seconds.

Calais was third in the 110 hurdles in 15.40 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 41.96 seconds.

Davis was second in the triple jump at 44-5 1/2 and third in the long jump at 22-0 1/2. Ellis Stewart was fourth in the long jump at 21-10. Jayden Lewis was fifth in the triple jump at 4110 1/2.

Da’Kelian Chevalier, Calais, Kaegan LeBlanc and Stewart won the 4x100 with a personalbest 3:28.85.

Shaquille Sanders, Gordon, Davis and Stewart ran a personalbest 42.64 in the 4x100 relay to finish third.

The 4x200 team of Chevalier, Gordon, Calais and Stewart finished third in the 4x200 with a personal-best of 1:29.19.

Sanders placed seventh in the 200 in 22.93 seconds and Gavin Guidry was seventh in the 1,600 (5:04.99), Guidry was sixth in the 3,200 (11:15.68) and Reuben Burgess was 11th in 13:28.94.

Isaiah Greene was eighth in the 800 (2:12.20).

In the field events, Jayden Lewis was fifth in the high jump for Cecilia at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Corey Sassau was sixth in the discus at 112 feet, 11 inches and seventh in the shot put at 43-8.

Nathan Macon was ninth in the javelin at 134-6.

Kade Primeaux was 11th in the discus with a personal-record 89-9 effort.

For Breaux Bridge, John won the 400 in a personal-record 48.31 seconds and finished second in the 200 in 22.03 seconds.

Theriot was second in the javelin with a personal-record throw of 163 feet. Gavin Lasseigne was fifth at 143-6.

Armentor was second in the pole vault at 11-6 and Gentry Blanchard was sixth at 9-6.

John, Ja’Kyron Wallace, Ethan Comb and Camacho were second in the 4x400 with a personal-best time of 3:26.90.

Nelson Borel was ninth in the high jump at 5-4.

Camacho was third in the 1,600 in 4:50.14. Patrick Godeaux was 10th in 5:16.54. Godeaux also placed eighth in the 3,200 (11:35.98).

Jaden Broussard was eighth in the triple jump at 39-10 1/2 and William Kays placed 10th in the discus at 91-5.

The boys’ 4x800 team of Camacho, Comb, Justin James and Raylen Drake ran a personalbest 8:35.80 to finish fourth in the 4x800 relay.

Noah Solomon, Kai Anderson, Broussard and Dakowan Celestine ran a personal-best 45.03 in the 4x100 to finish ninth.

Class 3A, Region 2 Lake Charles – In the Class 3A, Region 2 meet held April 28 at McNeese State University, St. Martinville sent six individual athletes and five relay teams to compete for spots at the LHSAA Outdoor Track & Field State Meet.

Makharee Narcisse had the highest finish for the Tigers, placing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 41.34 seconds. Narcisse also finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.17 seconds.

Tylen Benjamin also competed in two events for the Tigers, finishing fifth in the triple jump at 42 feet, 4 1/4 inches and seventh in the long jump at 20-11 1/2.

Skylar Frelix placed fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Kylun Skipper was 11th in the 100-meter dash for SMSH in 11.38 seconds.

The SMSH 4x200meter relay team finished ninth in 1:35.71.

The 4x100 relay team was 10th in 46.46 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team also was 10th in 3:43.10.

For the St. Martinville girls, Alivia Joseph competed in the long jump and high jump.

Joseph was 11th in the long jump at 14 feet, 4 1/4 inches and 12th in the high jump at 4-4.

The girls’ 4x100 relay team and 4x200 relay team each finished 10th, with the 4x100 team running a 54.42 second race and the 4x200 team running in 1:55.61.
