May events at Longfellow

Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site announces the following events: Historic Cooking Saturday May 3, 10 am - noon See early Acadian and Creole recipes prepared and taste the results!

St. Martinville French Table every Wednesday, 10 - 11 am Conversation, practice and activities for speakers of Cajun, Creole and international French, from beginners to native speakers! We meet indoors in the AV room.

Learn to ID plants Tuesday May 13 and every Thursday, 10 - 10:30 am Discover plants in the park, including medicinals, pollinators and some that are “invasive” and have become a little too cozy in Louisiana!

Bang! Black powder! Friday May 16 & every 3rd Friday, 10:30 - 11 am Black powder weapons were commonly used in the 1800’s. See how a 19th century-style long gun works and hear it in action!

La Table chantante Saturday May 24, 2:00 3:30 pm Sing along to French songs loved in 19th century Louisiana and today All skill levels in singing and in French are welcome. Lyrics and translations provided.
