Fraudulent activities uncovered at OMV

St. Landry Parish – On March 28, the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit (LSP-IFAT) Breaux Bridge Field Office, in collaboration with the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV), initiated an investigation into allegations of fraudulent paperwork being processed across multiple offices.

The investigation began after supervisors at the Breaux Bridge OMV office reported a rise in suspicious activity. In response, investigators from LSP-IFAT and OMV collaborated to gather evidence and identify patterns of fraud. Through detailed analysis, investigators uncovered numerous fraudulent documents, including fake proofs of insurance, bills of sale, and vehicle titles. As a result, five individuals were arrested: Processed at Lafayette Parish Correctional Center were:

•Maria Alejandra Herrera-Alvarez,36, 36 counts of LA R.S. 14:133 - Filing false public records; •Winston Wilfredo Mora Perez, 25), 36 counts of LA R.S. 14:133 - Filing false public records; •Jose Luis Alarcon, 34, 12 counts of LA R.S. 14:133 - Filing false public records and one count of LA R.S. 14:100.13 Operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States; Processed at St. Landry Parish Jail were:

•Siervo Amador, 32, 32 counts of LA R.S. 14:133 - fFiling false public records

•David Steven Amador, 19, 32 counts of LA R.S. 14:133 - Filing false public records This investigation remains ongoing.
