Parks - The major agenda item at the Village’s April council meeting was the discussion on the construction of a new library in Parks.

“We’re not just going to sign over the land,” Kately said. We are donating land for a library. There are going to be stipulations.”

At its April 1 meeting, the St. Martin Parish Council introduced an ordinance to accept the donation of property from the Village of Parks and to amend the parish budget so the Library Board of Control could pay for the construction of a new library in the village.

The council decided to move forward with the construction of a new water well.

“We are just going to take the money out of our account and we are going to piecemeal it,” said Mayor Kevin Kately.

“This administration has saved enough money to do and we are going to do,” he added.

The mayor explained that the well would be built in stages.

“First we will build the well, then we will add on the other things from there like the chlorination room and storage,” Kately said.

The mayor said that the construction may cost the Village $1.5 million, but would open the doors to new subdivisions and other improvements.
