The identity of a woman found on Monday, Jan. 17 in a burning shed has still not been released.
St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin told the Teche News Tuesday that a preliminary identification has been made but has not yet been confirmed by DNA analysis.
The remains of a dog were also found in the shed.
Randal J. Romero, 55, who lives at 1205 South Main Street where the fire occurred, has been charged by city police with 2nd degree murder/non-negligent homicide, cruelty to animals, and tampering with evidence.
