Verna M. Breaux Boyer

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Verna Mae Breaux Boyer, 87, who passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Solera Convelesant Home in Houston, Texas.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. The Eucharistic Minister and reader was Barbara Menard. Gift Bearers were Kim LeBlanc Rider and Verline LeBlanc Courville.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Verna worked in the school system as a cafeteria manager for 23 years.  She enjoyed dancing at La Poussiere, going to the casino, cooking, tending to her flowers, watching her hummingbirds, and caring for her family.  She was the matriarch of her “Cousin’s Luncheon” which met every first Friday of the month, she also loved going to McDonalds to have coffee with all her friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Gale M. Latiolais of Shreveport; her son, Robert “Bobby” Boyer and his partner, Darryl Thorp of Houston, Texas; her stepson, Lionel Boyer Jr., Carla and Luke Boyer, step grandson of Breaux Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Joseph Boyer Sr.; her first husband, Arthur Latiolais; her parents, Paul and Adela Stoute Breaux; her brothers, J.C. Breaux, Lawrence Breaux, Adley Breaux, Paul Breaux and Ozare (O.J.) Breaux; and her sisters, Bertha B. Champagne Frederick, Euse Mae Breaux Caillier and Anna Mae Breaux, who died a very young child.
Pallbearers were Perry Boyer, Luke Boyer, Terry Courville, Kraig Menard, Mike Caillier and Dwayne Breaux.
