Velma Champagne

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Velma Champagne, 89, who passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at St. Martin Hospital.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A rosary wase prayed at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Velma enjoyed cooking, camping, going to the casino, and dancing. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Scrantz and husband Leonard of Breaux Bridge; son, William Champagne of Jeanerette; step-brother, John Yunis and wife, Brenda, of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Inga Sandifer and companion Charles Johnson, Brandy Quebedeaux and spouse Scott, Courtney LeBlanc and spouse Corey, Edward Champagne and spouse Jessica, Perileigh Champagne, Macon Champagne and spouse Mary, and Desiree Patout and spouse Chad.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Trosclair; mother, Volsie Latiolais Trosclair; stepmother, Fabe Trosclair; father of her children, Denis M. Champagne; brothers, Lester Trosclair and Lee Roy Trosclair; sister, Eula Mae Guidry; sisters-in-law, Lucille Trosclair and Cicille Trosclair; and brother-in-law, Curtis Guidry.
Pallbearers were William Champagne, Scott Quebedeaux, Ian Quebedeaux, Harry Latiolais, Corey LeBlanc and Cole Quebedeaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
