Stephen ‘Malo’ Cormier
Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Stephen “Malo” Cormier, 88, who passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 90 p.m. on Wednesday and continud on Thursday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. Stephen Pellessier officiated at the Funeral Mass. The reader was Faith Hollier and gift bearers were Misty Hollier and Blaire Walton.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Stephen, better known as Malo, was born in Breaux Bridge to the late Damas and Odelia Belaire Cormier. He proudly served 23 years in the United States Army National Guard before retiring. Malo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joycelyn Alleman Cormier; son, Carl Lee Cormier and wife Jennifer; daughters, Susan Cormier Belaire and husband Kenneth, and Janice Cormier Belaire and husband Patrick; grandchildren, Misty Hollier, Blaire Walton, Seth Cormier, Jordy Belaire, Danielle Harrison, Jamie Belaire and Hutch Cormier; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Dale Cormier; an infant daughter, Geraldine Cormier; two sisters and five brothers.
Pallbearers were Seth Cormier, Jordy Belaire, Jamie Belaire, Hutch Cormier, Kenneth Belaire and Patrick Belaire.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
