Sidney ‘Gros’ Douet
Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Sidney “Gros” Douet, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Visiting hours were observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
“Gros” enjoyed farming, training horses, hunting, and attending his weekly Masses. He loved his family and spending time with them gave him so much joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Ruth Benoit Douet; daughter, Madelyne Gerard and husband Allen G. Gerard Sr.; sons, Mike Douet and wife Yvonne, and John Douet and companion Leah Montfort, all of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Lina’ Gerard and wife Naomie, Lance Gerard and companion Jessica, Allen Gerard Jr. and wife Tracy, Jean’ Michele Douet and Klaire, Catina Moffett and husband Randy, Bridget Courville and husband Danny, and Tanya Courville and companion John; 14 great-grandchildren, David Courville, Nikita Courville, Cody Courville, Kourtney Courville, Kayla Moffett, Samuel Moffett, Trey Gerard, Christopher Courville, Sidney Courville, Emily Gerard, Easton Gerard, Egan Gerard, Braydon Douet and Jaxon Douet; one great-great-grandchild, David Courville Jr.; and brother, Stanley J. Douet and wife Rose Marie of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchel and Adeline Landry Douet; daughter, Margie A. Douet; an infant daughter; son, Joseph Douet; and brother, Whitney Douet.
Pallbearers were John Douet, Lina’ Gerard, Lance Gerard, Allen Gerard Jr., Jean’ Michele Douet and Rickey Douet.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Douet, Stanley J. Douet, Allen Gerard Sr. and Clyde Douet.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
