Sheldon Antoine Arnaud

Port Neches, Texas – Sheldon Antoine Arnaud, 83, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
Sheldon was born February 18, 1937, in Arnaudville, Louisiana to the late Samuel and Ezaure Arnaud. He graduated from Cecilia High School in Cecilia, Louisiana and attended Lamar University for Machine/Tools Science.
Sheldon was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas for 60 years. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #2461, Ameripol Synpol-Goodrich Retirees, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Southeast Texas Pointers and Setters Club and the A.C.T.S. Community.
Sheldon served in the National Guard and was employed as an Inside Machinist for B.F. Goodrich Port Neches Plant and later retired after 37 years from Ameripol Synpol.
Sheldon was passionate about praying the rosary, spending quality time with his family, and enjoying life at his place on Lake Sam Rayburn. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, golfing, dove and quail hunting and exercising at the YMCA. He had a love for listening to music, supporting the Lamar basketball and baseball teams and cooking for family and friends. He enjoyed telling jokes and entertaining his grandchildren with his imitations of various farm animal sounds.
Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel “Sam” Arnaud and Ezaure Olivier Arnaud; infant granddaughter, Michelle Angelle Arnaud; four sisters and two brothers.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Celindia “Cindy” Rollinson Arnaud of Port Neches, Texas; children, Lori Arnaud Dismukes of Houston, Texas, Jeffry Arnaud and his wife Robin of Wilmington, N.C., Sheri Arnaud Barbay and her husband Kirk of LaBelle, Texas, Gregg Arnaud of Port Neches, Texas and Emily Arnaud Watts and her husband Joel of Bridge City, Texas; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney Arnaud and his wife Verna of Port Barre, La.; sisters, Geraldine “Gerrie” Oehlschlager and her husband, Richard of Boise, Idaho, and Barbara Bergeron and her husband, Lester of Butte La Rose, La.; and many other loving family members.
The family would like to give a “Special Thank You,” to Penny Lee and the wonderful staff at Forever Young Home for the love and care they provided to Sheldon in the past year.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in honor of Sheldon Arnaud can be made to Knights of Columbus Council #2461, Port Neches, or St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Building Fund.
A gathering of friends and family was held on Monday, June 29, 2020, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 2 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
Due to Coronavirus-19 we request that friends and relatives practice social distancing while attending Sheldon’s visitation and service. All guests are required to wear a face mask before entering the funeral home and at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
