Ruth met the love of her life, Retired MSG Joseph C. Cormier, at a Valentine’s Day party and united in holy matrimony on May 5, 1962. Together, this couple blessed the New Llano and Leesville, Louisiana community. Ruth and Joseph both share a strong belief in their spiritual faith and commitment to community service.
Ruth retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) after 25 years of service as a Supervisor. She believed hard work, coupled with an education, brings success and prosperity into the lives of others. Ruth belongs to AREA (AAFES Retired Employee Association), Women’s Circle of St. Michael Catholic Church, and the local G.O.A.L.S. She was very active with Girls State and was instrumental in ensuring that as many girls as possible were able to participate. She traveled and participated in many American Legion National and Department Conventions through the years. Ruth was a dedicated and hardworking member of the American Legion Auxiliary that she loved dearly.
