Russel J. Theriot

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Russel J. Theriot, 77, who passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was recited on Friday.
Rev. Keith Landry officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Kali G. Sosa and Tiffany H. Louviere. Gift Bearers were Briana, Ava, and John Theriot, and Kellsie Guidry.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Russel owned and operated Theriot’s Upholstery for over 45 years. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 10349. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for several years and was a member of the American Legion Post 133 in Breaux Bridge. Russel enjoyed gardening and caring for his farm animals. Russel never met a stranger - he loved talking to anyone he would meet and always enjoyed everyone’s company. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ida Mae Theriot; his son, Brian P. Theriot and wife Adria; his daughters, Sharon Theriot Guidry and husband Kirk, and Rachelle Theriot Hebert and husband Philip; his grandchildren, Tiffany H. Louviere and husband Josh, Britney H. Hebert and husband Trent, Kali G. Sosa and husband Johnny, Kellsie Guidry, Briana Theriot, Ava Theriot, and John Theriot; his great grandchildren, Connor Louviere, Colton Louviere, and Pence Hebert; his sisters, Sue Hebert, Mae Angelle, Anna Lou Bernard, Barbara LeBlanc, and Judy Douet; and his brother, Leroy Theriot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Emerite Bijeaux Theriot; sisters, Anna Mae Angelle, Yuline Theriot, and Shirley Zeringue; and his brother, Harris Theriot.
Pallbearers were John Theriot, Philip Hebert, Kirk Guidry, Josh Louviere, Trent Hebert, Johnny Sosa, J. Roy Bernard, and Ronald Landry.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
