A native of Catahoula, Rogers was born on December 27, 1949. to the late Ludon and Lillian Louviere. He was a graduate of St. Martinville High School and served six years with the Louisiana Army National Guard. He spent his working days in the oilfield working for Texaco and then Chevron, eventually going out on his own as a consultant in the oilfield.
Rogers was very active throughout his church community having served as an usher and eucharistic minister for St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus for a number of years serving as secretary, organizing yearly retreats for new seminarians, teaching religious education to confirmation candidates (his greatest challenge) and serving as a devoted disciple with the Cursillo Movement at Prairie Rondes.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a charter member of the Basin Management Hunting Club. There was little Rogers enjoyed more than spending time with his family and friends … fishing, hunting, cooking, visiting, playing cards and just generally having a good time. He loved to play with his grandkids or neighbors kids or friends kids and enjoyed a good laugh often at their expense. He had quite the sense of humor and was a great story teller often leaving you with a lesson learned.
If you were a part of Rogers’ life you knew you were loved. He always said his love for God was first in his life. This love allowed him to love others as God loves him. He lived that daily. If your heart has been touched by Rogers in any way he would want you to share that love – love of God, love of self, love of mankind – and keep it going.
