Rita W. ‘Chic’ Darby

Arnaudville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church for Rita W. “Chic” Darby, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Donald Taylor. Gift bearers were Lacey and Lauren Darby.
Interment followed at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Rita was a parishioner of St John Francis Regis Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She would volunteer for all church fundraisers. Rita enjoyed going to the casinos, playing cards, traveling, cooking, entertaining her friends, and having visitors. Rita will be remembered for her kindness towards others, but most of all, that look of joy in her eyes when she would bring her nieces and nephews to school.
She will be sadly missed by everyone in her community and those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Darby; her parents, Carlos and Rita Emon Woodson Sr.; brothers, Ewell, Mason, Howard and Carlos Woodson Jr.; and her sisters, Bertha Woodson, Emily Guidry, Velma Marcotte and Lilly Mae Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of your choice.
