Raymond Guidry

Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Raymond Guidry at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church. Fr. Richard Fabre was the celebrant. Raymond was laid to rest at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery following the Mass.
A gathering of family and friends was held at the Dion Hall on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 6:30 pm. The hall reopened on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Raymond was born March 30, 1941 in St. Martin Parish to the late Anglos and Estella Talley Guidry, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at St. Agnes Healthcare in Breaux Bridge, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Raymond was a lifelong commercial fisherman and trapper. He lived a simple life and worked hard to support and care for his family. When he wasn’t fishing, he made crawfish traps for many of the other fisherman in the area. His knowledge and expertise of his trade was vast, and he passed that wealth of knowledge on to his children so that they could make a good living and support their families as he did.
But Raymond was most happy when he was able to spend time with his family. Watching his granddaughters play and grow brought so much happiness to him. And he was blessed to have spent 51 years married to his best friend and sweetheart. He leaves behind a legacy of love and many happy memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Oline LeBlanc Guidry of Catahoula; his six children, Todd J. Guidry, Lonnie J. Guidry, Stella M. Guidry, Timmy R. Guidry and Missy Ann Guidry; his four granddaughters whom he adored, Sadie Guidry, Jacy Guidry, Brianna Guidry and Braylee Guidry; four great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Gladys Berthelot and Leona Savoie.
Along with his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Laida Guidry; and his brothers, Paul Guidry, Leonard Guidry and Elton Guidry.
Serving as pallbearers were Todd, Lonnie and Timmy Guidry.
