Paul Richard Sr.

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Paul Richard Sr., 73, who passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at his residence. 
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7 a.m. until service time of Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Rev. Mike Sucharski will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readings will be read by Lauren, Taylor and Lexi. Gift Bearers will be Cooper, Jacob, Meagan, Kaitlyn and Michaela. The obituary will be read by Paul Richard Jr.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. 
Paul was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for many years and was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #54. He was also a member of the American Legion, St. Martin Chapter of AARP, Kiwanis Club, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and was board member for the Acadian Federal Credit Union. Paul proudly served his country in the Marine Corps Reserve for six years. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who he adored.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Margaret Normand Richard; sons, Paul Richard Jr. and wife Jennifer of St. Martinville, David Richard and wife Shanta of Cade, and John Richard and Anthony Richard, both of St. Martinville; brothers, Francis Richard and wife Dianna of Lafayette, Matthew Richard and wife Sherlene of Youngsville, Thomas Richard of Phoenix, Ariz., Joseph Richard and wife Margaret of Carencro, and Jude Richard and wife Debra of Lafayette; sister, Bernadette Derouen and husband Roland of Coteau; grandchildren, Alex and his wife Michaela, Taylor, Lexi, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Meagan, Cooper and Jacob Richard; and great-grandchildren, Morgan Simon and India Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emily Richard; and in-laws, Curley and Lumanna Normand.
Pallbearers will be Paul Richard Jr., David Richard, John Richard, Anthony Richard, Alex Richard and Roland Derouen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jude, Joseph, Thomas, Matthew and Francis Richard, and the members of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 54.
