Oscar Louis Ducharme Jr.

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Oscar Louis Ducharme Jr., 95, who passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A rosary was prayed at 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mr. Ducharme honorably served his country in the Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific and achieved the rank of Major before retiring after 20 years. He subsequently served an additional 20 years in the Civil Service, specializing in transportation management, where he received numerous awards and commendations for his excellence and dedication.
A devoted family man, he also was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, camping, and RVing. Mr. Ducharme was known by many as a jack of all trades, who took great pride in doing yard work, watching football, and going to the casino. 
He is survived by his sons, Oscar Louis Ducharme III of Bossier City and Danny James Ducharme and wife Katrina Rogers of Katy, Texas; brother, Raymond E. Ducharme of Shreveport; grandchildren, Arielle Ducharme and Heather Romero; and his great-grandchild, Anthony Romero.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merza Judice Ducharme; father, Oscar Louis Ducharme Sr.; mother, Katherine Ducharme; and his sister, Catherine M. Ducharme.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
