Oline Bourque Gary

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Oline Bourque Gary, 96, who passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Brittney Hulin and Hilary Torry. Gift bearers will be Charley Landry, Kage Landry and Jayci Delahoussaye.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
A beautiful heart started beating on Feb. 2, 1923. That beautiful soul went to meet her Savior exactly 96 years later. Her life was one of love, laughter, and generosity. Her deep religious faith was remarkable.
Oline grew up in rural St. Martin Parish with her parents and six siblings. She came from a hard-working lineage. Had a simple life that was rich in love and perseverance, heart and soul. She and her siblings moved to the “City” of St. Martinville after their parents passed away. She graduated from St. Martin High, third in her class, and received the America Legion Award. She was awarded a scholarship to Norma College in Nachitoches. Finances were grim, and she could not attend.
Oline met Kaiser Gary and they wed after World War II. A marriage that lasted 51 years, until Kaiser’s passing. They had six children. She worked at St. Martin Bank for 27 years and helped Kaiser manage St. Martinville Housing Projects.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Boggs, Janet Delahoussaye and husband Carroll, Joan Simon and husband Charlie, Liz Berard and Claudia Torry and husband Bruce; son, Lee Gary and wife Tereena; grandchildren, Clint Boggs, Kelli Blanchard, Trent Delahoussaye, Jake Delahoussaye, Hilary Torry, Kate Torry, Brooke Landry, Zack Simon, Brittney Hulin, Dustin Berard and Christian Gary; step grandchildren, Angela McNabb and Stacy Blanchard; 17 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leopold “Kaiser” J. Gary; parents, Supervielle and Josephine Barras Bourque; sisters, Lucille Berard, Henrietta Bienvenu, Theresa Faught and Velma Berard; brothers, David, Wade and Phil Bourque; sons-in-law, Mike Boggs and Kim Berard.
Pallbearers will be Christian Gary, David Bienvenu, Bob Bienvenu, Louis Gary, Michael Chargois and Zack Simon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Boggs, Trent Delahoussaye, Jake Delahoussaye, Dustin Berard, Craig Hebert and Phil Barras.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Roxie Porter, for the love and kindness she showed to our mother.
