Nolan P. Barras

St. Martinville – A Memorial Service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Nolan P. Barras, 93, who passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A rosary was prayed at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard officiated at the Memorial Service.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Nolan retired as a machinist in the oil field industry after many years. He was an accomplished artist who was skilled in many crafts which included: painting, whittling, clock making, stained glass art, doll house construction, miniature doll house furniture, paper crafts, and wood burning.
Nolan was most famous for his amazing craftsmanship in the construction of wooden puzzle boxes and assisting in the fabrication of creating replicas of the famous Fabergé Eggs by Vivian Alexander.
He cherished moments spent with the ones he loved most, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Vincent Barras; daughters, Inez Barras and Tracie Renard and husband Leffery Jr.; grandchildren, Angela Rockefeller and spouse Kyle, Aaron Barras and spouse Wendy, and Rebecca C. Renard; and his great-grandchildren, Nolan B. Rockefeller, William “Hawk” Rockefeller and Raven Rockefeller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhona Judice Barras; parents, Vincent and Marie Dupois Barras; brothers, Sidney Barras and Jimmy Barras; and sisters, Anna-Lou Wilson, Mary-Jane Fronchiewicz and Theresa Moreau.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans, National Service Foundation, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
