Mary Ruth Benoit Douet

Cecilia – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mary Ruth Benoit Douet, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Rev. Garrett Savoie officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Klaire Douet and Tony Cade. Gift bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Douet and Sue Hulin.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed cooking and visiting and drinking coffee with her friends and sisters. She raised chickens and picked fresh eggs every day. Mary loved her family dearly and enjoyed moments spent with them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Madelyne Gerard and husband Allen G. Gerard Sr.; sons, Mike Douet and wife Yvonne, and John Douet; grandchildren, Lina’ Gerard and wife Naomie, Lance Gerard and companion Jessica, Allen Gerard Jr. and wife Tracy, Jean’ Michele Douet and Klaire, Catina Moffett and husband Randy, Bridget Courville and husband Danny, and Tanya Courville and companion John; 14 great-grandchildren, David Courville, Nikita Courville, Cody Courville, Kourtney Courville, Kayla Moffett, Samuel Moffett, Trey Gerard, Christopher Courville, Sidney Courville, Emily Gerard, Easton Gerard, Egan Gerard, Braydon Douet, Jaxon Douet and Emmett Gerard; one great-great- grandchild, David Courville Jr.; sisters, Hazel Benoit Latiolais and Sue Benoit Hulin; brother-in-law, Stanley Joseph Douet; and her sister-in-law, Rose Marie Douet.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Sidney Douet; parents, René and Leota Benoit; daughter, Margie A. Douet; son, Joseph Douet; infant daughter; sisters, Marion Benoit Tauzin (Wilfred), Ruby Benoit Johnson (William “Bill”), Stella Benoit Latiolais (Javis), and Mavis Benoit Theriot (Murphy); brother, Chester Benoit; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Hulin and Benoit Latiolais.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Agnes Nursing Home staff and to Mary’s nurse, Angel, for all the love and care given to her.
Pallbearers were John Douet, Lina Gerard, Lance Gerard, Allen Gerard Jr., Jean Michele Douet and Rickey Douet.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Douet, Stanley Joseph Douet, Allen Gerard Sr., Clyde Douet, Timmy Latiolais, Tracey Latiolais, Jackie Johnson and Russell Tauzin.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
