Mary Kay Voorhies Habetz

St. Martinville – Kay, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 10, 2018, in New Orleans, La. at the age of 64.

Prior to serving as Human Resources Director at Berard, Habetz, and Associates, Inc. for 23 years, Kay was employed by the United States Social Security Administration for 12 years. She also served the local community as a Notary Public for 35 years.
She was an active member of the Louisiana hot air ballooning community and enjoyed travelling with her friends and family to ballooning competitions. Kay loved cutting the grass, as it brought her “me time relaxation.” Her children and grandchildren brought her the most joy, selflessly giving to each of them.
She is survived by her mother, Rita Durand Voorhies; husband, Tedmund Habetz; children, Taylor Habetz, Morgan Habetz, and Bradford Habetz Millett and husband Ryan; grandchildren, Raegan and Karleigh Habetz, Elijah Simon and Rucker Millett; siblings, Jeffery Voorhies and wife Annette, Christine Johnson and husband Bill, Ted Voorhies and wife Nikki, Patrice Jarreau and husband Todd, Stephen Voorhies and Michelle Belaire and husband Chris; sister-in-law, Flavia Eldridge and husband Glenn; brothers-in-law, Michael Habetz and wife Cindy, and Bruno Habetz and wife Linda; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded by her father, Thomas Voorhies Jr.; mother-in-law, Rita Ohlenforst Habetz; father-in-law, Joseph Habetz; and her faithful four-legged companion, Molly.
