Margaret ‘Git’ Fuselier Broussard

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Margaret Fuselier Broussard, 88, who passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Readers were Nanette Maedgen and Logan Verret. Gift bearers were Christine Talley, Bonnie Boggs and Josie Foti.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Margaret, better known as “Git,” was a retired educator. She started a 38-year career teaching grades four through eight at Bayou Chene in the Atchafalaya Basin in St. Martin Parish. The following year she taught fifth grade at Rosedale Elementary in Iberville Parish. When her husband, A.P., was discharged from the Marine Corps she continued her career at Parks Elementary, and as St. Martin Parish’s P.E. supervisor.
Margaret received a BS degree from SLI in 1951; a MEd degree in 1971 and a Master’s plus 30 graduate hours from USL in 1985. Git enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Barras and husband Kenny, Lyla Judice and husband Chuck, Joan Broussard, and Trudy Bulliard and husband Mike, all of St. Martinville; her beloved little dog, Ike; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances “Billie” Kelso of Winter Haven, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. P. “Pete” Broussard; her father, Francis “Bill” Fuselier; her mother, Luce Fuselier; her brother, Ramon Fuselier; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Broussard.
Pallbearers were Brady Foti, Kenny “Blue” Broussard, Jake Foti, Jordan Bulliard, Tre Theriot and Bri Foti.
Honorary pallbearers were Braydon and Bronson Boggs.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
