Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lucille G. Melancon, 91, who passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be prayed at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Melancon was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a resident of St. Agnes Nursing Home. Her family would like to extend a word of thanks to the staff of St. Agnes Nursing Home for the care she received over the past several months. A special thanks to her personal caregivers, Emma and Sherry, who took care of her when she was living in her home.
She is survived by her sons, Gary J. Rabalais of Kingwood, Texas and Glenn J. Rabalais of Breaux Bridge; step son, Larry Melancon and spouse Brenda of Moss Bluff; daughter, Patricia “Patti” Johnson and husband Ted of Cecilia; grandchildren, Adam Johnson of New Orleans, Jonathan Johnson and Cy Johnson of Cecilia, Caleb Rabalais of Kingwood, Texas, and Caroline Rabalais of Kingwood, Texas; and her great-granddaughter, Hunter Landrum of Kingwood, exas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy “PJ” Joseph Melancon; father, Vincent Guidry Sr.; mother, Estella Robert Guidry; and daughter-in-law, Marie Rabalais.
