Keith Wyatt was a beloved husband, father, and brother. He was first and foremost a musician. He was an educator, director of bands, singer, songwriter, composer and arranger.
Mr. Wyatt was born and grew up in St. Martinville, Louisiana. He graduated from USL (University of Southwestern Louisiana) where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha. He earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Music Theory & Education.
His love of music spanned his entire lifetime. Mr. Wyatt began playing in bands during high school and culminated his career as Director of Bands for Iberia Parish where he inspired his students and shared his love of music. Mr. Wyatt was a mentor and role model for his students and taught them life-long lessons about the rewards of discipline and hard work. By the testimony of many, Mr. Wyatt’s positive influence extended beyond the classroom and into the homes and families of his students. He felt a profound responsibility to and love for all his students during his many years as a band director.
Throughout his music career, Mr. Wyatt played in bands with many local musicians in both the Lafayette and New Orleans areas during which time he opened for a number of nationally known performers.
Mr. Wyatt loved the city of New Orleans and spent over 20 years playing music and working in the restaurant and hotel industry there. Because of his affection and appreciation for New Orleans, Mr. Wyatt took advantage of every opportunity to return for personal visits.
