Herman Jude Dautreuil Sr.

Breaux Bridge – A Service of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at The Bridge Fellowship Church for Herman Jude Dautreuil Sr., 79, who passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at his residence.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A ceremony was conducted by the American Legion Post 289 on Sunday at 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service.
Pastors Rodney Chitwood and Jonathon Haygood officiated at the Christian Service. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
A gathering of family and friends immediately followed at American Legion Post 289 in Parks. Food was provided by The Breaux Bridge Pentecostals.
Herman was born in St. Martinville on February 24, 1939. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Navy serving as a Navy Seabee in the Naval Construction Unit. He was a proud veteran and was a member of American Legion Post 289 in Parks, La. After serving in the Navy, Herman continued on in the construction industry serving as a master bricklayer for over 60 years. He loved to fish, camp, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 57 years, Naomi Staton Dautreuil; sons, Herman “Buddy” Dautreuil Jr. and wife Lea of Cypress Island, and Mark Dautreuil and wife Liz of Cypress Island; daughter, Darlene Berthelot and companion Kevin Burch of St. Martinville; sister, Mary Ann Bordelon and husband Joe of Cypress Island; grandchildren, Olivia, Dustin, Tabitha, April, Ashley, Anthony, Malori, Lani, Trent, Paige and Toree; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Dautreuil Sr.; mother, Rita Dautreuil; brothers, Oray Dautreuil, Red Dautreuil, Carroll Dautreuil and Abdon Dautreuil; sister, Elaine Gautreaux, and great-grandson, Christian David Trahan.
Pallbearers were Herman “Buddy” Dautreuil Jr., Mark Dautreuil, Anthony Dautreuil, Trent Dautreuil, Dustin Dautreuil, Gerald “Buddy” Berthelot Jr. and Logan Berard.
Honorary pallbearers were Raymond DePeradell, Charles Moore, Charlie Moore, Timmy Moore, Charlie Lasseigne, Ronald Fremin Sr., Winston “Pappy” Broussard, Lee Dautreuil, Chris Granger, C.D. Serrette, Niki Walker, Colt Trahan, Eric Robicheaux and Terry Laperouse.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Alyson Champagne, Terry Mallet and Elaine Bourda.
