Herman ‘Jackie’ Kately Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Herman “Jackie” Kately Jr., 66, who passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD, will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Herman Kately Jr. was born in Lafayette to Herman Sr. and the late Mildred Charles Kately. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Knights of Peter Claver, the American Legions, and Masonic Lodge #84. Herman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, barbecuing, fishing and going to the casino. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 47 years, Mary Ledet Kately; his sons, Herman Kately III, Kevin Joseph Kately and wife Jennifer, and Jeremiah Jackie Kately; his father, Herman Kately Sr.; his brothers, Ronald Kately and Raphael Kately and wife Lorena; his half-brother, Herman Broussard; his sisters, Leona Boyd and husband Michael, Shirley Kately, and Dorothy Pierre and husband Joseph; his grandchildren, Andru’ Simon and spouse Teyanna, Dequincy Reed, Katlin Kately, Kaylin Kately, Logan Kately and Landon Kately; and his great-grandchildren, Kylee Reed and Carter Reed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Charles Kately; and his mother-in-law, Serita Ledet.
Pallbearers will be Andru’ Simon, Logan Kately, Selby Kately, Ihmaru Jones, Carl Jacobs and Richard Chambers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Kately III, Kevin Joseph Kately, Jeremiah Jackie Kately, Ronald Kately, Raphael Kately, Landon Kately, Michael Boyd, Joseph Pierre Sr., Alfred Beals, Melvin James, Dolby Charles, Darius Charles, Robert Batiste and Carlton Thibodeaux.
