Herbert Clement Pontiff

Henderson – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Herbert Clement Pontiff, 86, who passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary wase prayed at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Garrett Savoie officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers were Gracie Lynn Delahoussaye and Naomi Theriot. Gift bearers were Noah, Ethan, Evan, Madison and Erin.
Interment followed at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in Henderson.
Herbert was born in Arnaudville to the late Louis and Agnes Latiolais Pontiff. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Herbert proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 0294. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Degatur, the staff at St. Martin Hospital, the staff at Nursing Specialties Inc., and his private sitters, Linda Stelly, Kristy Melancon and Christina Bergeron.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Betty Mallet Pontiff; daughters, Cassandra Ann Pontiff, Lisa Devillier and husband Richard, and Brittany Breaux and husband Kyle; sons, Dennis Pontiff and wife Brenda, and Dwayne Pontiff and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Naomi Theriot and spouse Luke, Kyle Pontiff and spouse Kristen, Renee Delahoussaye and spouse Dylan, Madison Doherty and Bobby Abbadie; great-grandchildren, Erin Theriot, Ethan Theriot, Evan Theriot, Gracie Lynn Delahoussaye, Noah Dela-houssaye, Henry Joseph Pontiff, and Fallon Rae Bearb and her companion Jonathan; great-great-grandchild, Rheese Morvant; sister, Marilyn Guidry; and his brothers, Octave Pontiff and wife Helen, Gerald Pontiff and wife Donna, and Allen Pontiff.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Pontiff; mother, Agnes Latiolais Pontiff; and his brothers, Joseph and Alvin Pontiff.
Pallbearers were Dennis Pontiff, Dwayne Pontiff, Kyle Breaux, Richard Devillier, Kyle Pontiff and Octave Pontiff.
The family would also like to thank Pearly and Judy Dupuis and Taylor Patin for their love and care during this time.
