Floyd Stelly

Arnaudville – Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, 2018 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Floyd Stelly, age 74, who passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. at his residence in Arnaudville.
Interment followed at St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiated at the services concelebrated with Rev. Travis Abadie. Readers were Selena Frederick and Ruthie Frederick. Giftbearers were Chelsie Frederick and Alanna Frederick.
Mr. Stelly was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville. He graduated from Cecilia High School, Class of 1961. After graduating high school, Floyd entered the military on June 2, 1961 at the age of 17. Having been in the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged June 1, 1964 as an ADMSI Electrical Mechanic on the (Hawk) related to Civilian Occupation Radar Equipment Foreman. Mr. Stelly was previously employed with J. Ray McDermott for several years, where he worked overseas and statewide. He worked for several other Oil Field companies throughout his life and then retired with Frank’s Casing. Floyd was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 273 Leonville. He was a 3rd degree member of the “Little Flower Knights of Columbus Council 3621.” Mr. Stelly retired as a Volunteer Fireman of Arnaudville and was also an Usher at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. He enjoyed his hunting trips with his friend, Steve Morrow, brother Merrick, nephews and grandchildren. He was an amazing grandfather, who adored his grandchildren, was always a huge supporter of their goals and attended any and all functions. He made sure to be there in their time of need and would do anything that they asked of him. Mr. Stelly was an avid Dallas Cowboys’ fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Hardy Stelly, of Arnaudville; one daughter, Selena Frederick and her husband, Chad, of Arnaudville; three grandchildren, Drake, Chelsie and Alanna Frederick of Arnaudville; one brother, Merrick Stelly and his wife, Janet, of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Rebecca Stelly of Arnaudville; one aunt, Ella Kidder of Baytown, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Hardy of Palmetto and Mathilde Landry of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Thibodeaux Stelly; his parents, Elzy Stelly and the former, Suzie Kidder, both natives of Arnaudville; one brother, Roderick Stelly; one sister, Sandra “Sandy” Stelly; one brother-in-law, Lucas Hardy.
A rosary was prayed on Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday and continued from 7 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers were Chad and Drake Frederick, Trent Stelly, Eddie Landry, Robert Mallet, II and Johnny Guidry. Honorary pallbearers were Heath Babineaux, Merrick Stelly, Robert Mallet, III and Jessie Guidry.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the special care provider Robert Mallet, III, Dr. Fernando Alemany and his Opelousas Staff, LA Hospice and Palliative Care, especially his C.N.A. Charleen B. Guidry. The family would also like to thank Robert Mallet, II and Donna, Johnny Guidry and Sidney Trahan for their frequent visits
