Cecilia – A Funeral Service wase held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Ernest J. “NuNu” Lasseigne, 86, who passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 8 a.m. until funeral service.
The Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Pastor Ralph Manacke officiated at the Funeral Service.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Ernest, better known as “NuNu,” was born in Catahoula to the late Aldoph and Mathilde Lasseigne. At the age of 13 he and his brother, Avie, took the responsibility of taking care of their mother and siblings after the death of their father. At 21 he met his wife and began his life with her and their four children.
He spent his life working in the oil field and crawfishing to support his family. NuNu enjoyed hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He taught his children dignity, honesty, respectfulness of others, and how to be a hard worker. NuNu was quick to correct and guide his children and grandchildren. He took pride in a long day’s work and his family.
NuNu was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Audrey Phillips and husband Dwain, Dolores Degeyter and husband Wilton, and Elizabeth Segura; his son, Sidney Lasseigne and wife Tina; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 14 great -grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Albert, Aldus and Eugene Lasseigne; one sister, Noelie Champagne; and Mrs. Anna Soirez who was a dearly loved companion and her family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mathilde Cotrel Lasseigne; his parents, Adolph and Mathilde Theriot Lasseigne; three brothers, Avie, Armond and Oneal Lasseigne; and his great- grandson, Sean T. Degeyter.
Pallbearers were Sidney Lasseigne, Wilton Degeyter, Aaron Degeyter, Andy Lasseigne, Dwain Phillips and Gage Angelle.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
