Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Ernest Guidry, 78, who passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Jade Guidry and Robyn Carter. Gift Bearers will be Juanita Guidry and Romona Guidry Gautreaux.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Guidry honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he was an Usher and also served as the captain of his group. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, cutting grass, and barbecuing. During the holidays, he was known for his famous fried turkey that everyone looked forward to.
Mr. Guidry cherished moments spent with his wife traveling and touring historical places. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Benoit Guidry; son, Terry J. Guidry and wife Mindy Friedman Guidry; two daughters, Juanita Guidry and Romona Guidry Gautreaux, all of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, Roland Guidry and wife Christine of Lafayette and Johnny L. Guidry and wife Pam of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Yvette Guidry and spouse Bryon, Jude Franks and spouse Lacey, Chase Franks, Nicholas Stelly and spouse Darian, Cameron Angelle, Jade Guidry and Alex Franks; and great -grandchildren, Bryon Guidry Jr., Nya Guidry, Reese Guidry, Jack Guidry, Easton Franks and two on-the-way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien P. and Anne Doré Guidry; and a grandchild, Jamison Stelly.
Pallbearers will be Terry Guidry, Bryon Guidry, Jude Franks, Nicholas Stelly, Chase Franks and Alex Franks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryon Guidry Jr., Jack Guidry, Easton Franks and Eddie Guidroz.
