Eraste ‘Sonny Boy’ Joseph Leon

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Eraste “Sonny Boy” Joseph Leon, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Gift bears will be Quintella Leon, Quanisha Leon and Wanda Jones. Reader will be Alfreda Jones.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Eraste, better known as “Sonny Boy,” enjoyed mowing the lawn, picking up cans, and just being home. He stayed to himself and did things on his own. Sonny Boy will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Jones and Beatrice Leon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Annie Mae Ledet Leon Sr.; brothers, Gabriel Leon Jr., Sylvester Leon Sr. and Paul Leon; sisters, Mary Leon and Edna Sam; nieces, Mary Joyce Leon, LaTasha Leon, Quintella Leon and Harriett Jones; nephews, Joshua Leon and Jermaine Jones; brother-in-law, Alfred Jones Sr.; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Leon.
Pallbearers will be Quaderrious Sampy, Jeffery Leon, Alfred Jones Jr., Joseph Sylvester Leon, Clayton Gilbert, and Deandré Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Leon, Steven Sampy, Jules Etienne, Kevin Etienne, Christopher Jones, Bryan Leon and Dwayne Leon.
