Dorothy T. Francois

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Dorothy T. Francois, 96, who passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed a Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
A rosary was prayed at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD, officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Dorothy was born March 1, 1922, in St. Martinville. She worked as a substitute teacher for St. Martin Parish School system for many years. Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary – Court No. 54 and a 4th Degree Lady of Grace of St. Paul Chapter 3, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, The Drexel Society, Sisters in Christ, and was very active at Notre Dame Catholic Church, where she also served as an Usher.
She loved to play her harmonica and was well recognized in her community for her talent. Dorothy was a people person and was always a helping hand. She was a devoted foster grandparent for many years. Her family was very important to her and she cherished moments spent with them. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Marilyn Anthony; sister, Myrtle Turpeau; grandchildren, Shawana Thibodeaux and Destiny Anthony; and her great-grandchildren, Jamyri Favors and Jada Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rena Davis Thibodeaux; and one brother, Leonard Thibodeaux Sr.
