Betty LaViolette

Breaux Bridge – Betty LaViolette, née Baker, of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, passed away at home Wednesday morning, March 14, 2018, surrounded by family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Visiting hours were observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Fr. Joseph Campion officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Betty was born April 4, 1942, to Richard and Josephine Melancon Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Helen Badeaux and Theresa Delahoussaye; and her brother, Martin Baker.
A long-time resident of St. Martinville, Betty had a long career with the St. Martin Parish School system, and once retired, in tourism working alternately at Longfellow Evangeline State Park, the Acadian Memorial, and the Atchafalaya Welcome Center at Butte LaRose.
Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward; two daughters, Suzanne and Gwenn LaViolette (Reid Bates); her sons, Kirk (Andrea Bourque), Chad (Sandie Bordelon), Mark and Joshua (Amy Dugas); and her brothers, Richard Baker Jr. and Anthony Baker. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren
Pallbearers were Kirk Laviolette, Chad Laviolette, Mark Laviolette, Jordan Laviolette, Alec Laviolette, Augustus Bates and Jacob Laviolette.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
