Alton Joseph Guidry

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Alton Joseph Guidry, 78, who passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, by the Knights of Columbus.
Reverend Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Service. Reading the scriptures will be Janet Guidry.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Prior to his retirement, Alton was the owner and operator of Guidry’s Exxon in Parks for many years. He honorably served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Alton was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4927.
Alton took great pride in his children and grandchildren, in all their accomplishments. He enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially when they would come to pick from his fruit trees. Alton was an avid gardener and loved sharing the bounty of his fruits and vegetables with his family and friends, so they could also enjoy them.
He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his three children, Miranda Thevenet and husband John, Darren Guidry and wife Janet, and Rachel Boudreaux, all of Parks; his grandchildren, Kaci (Lance) Landry, Zachary (Amy) Thevenet, Victoria (Jeremy) Castille, Amelia and Adisyn Guidry, Abbey (Mark) Savage, Ashton (Mi’Cael) Guy, Christopher Boudreaux and Matthew Boudreaux; his great-grandchildren, Chance, Katie, Cameron, Macy, Adam, Lucas, Emmy, Clotille, Lucille, Londyn, Lawson and Lennox; his brothers, Wilton Guidry and wife Marguerite, and Thomas “Tommy” Guidry and wife Carol; and his companion of 3½ years, Judy Theriot Westcott.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” Boudreaux Guidry; his parents, Paul and Edolie Landry Guidry; his sister, Wolla Mae “Mae Mae” Broussard; his brother, Adley Guidry; and his son-in-law, Gerald Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Darren Guidry, Jeremy Castille, John Thevenet, Zachary Thevenet, Christopher Boudreaux and Matthew Boudreaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Landry, and his Godsons, Tommy Guidry and Ray Broussard.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
