Allen ‘Albert’ Blanchard Sr.

Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted for Allen “Albert” Blanchard Sr., 65, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at St. Rita Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Fabre officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation took place at Dion Hall on Friday at 4 p.m. until the service time on Saturday. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
A resident of Catahoula, Mr. Blanchard passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his residence.
Allen, better known as Albert to family and friends, was a kind and fun loving man. He enjoyed the simple life of country living and was a Cajun man through and through. Allen spent most of his time outdoors on the water or in the woods. He was an avid hunter and fishermen. Allen was a Saints fanatic was the team’s biggest fan. He loved his family and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Laviolette Blanchard; children, Allen “Bert” Blanchard Jr. and wife Crystal of Catahoula, Joan Blanchard and significant other Donney LeBlanc of Catahoula, and Latisha Granger and husband Orie of Parks; siblings, Durphy Blanchard and wife Louella, Murphy Blanchard, Charles Blanchard and wife Elsie, James Blanchard and wife Judy, John Blanchard, Joel Blan-chard, Wilton Walker, Helen Simon and husband Paul, and Margaret Daigle and husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Madison Reed and husband Collin “Bob,” Ashlyn Champagne, Owen Granger, Logan Granger, Avyn Blanchard and Bethanie Doucet; and great-grandchild, Piper Reed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Malvina Latiolais Blanchard; and siblings, Grace Bellot, Nolan Blanchard and Willis Blanchard.
Pallbearers were Orie Granger, Donney LeBlanc, James “Toro” Blanchard, Collin “Bob” Reed, Wilton Walker and Johnathan Blanchard.
