Albertha Marie Anderson

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Albertha Marie Anderson, 93, who passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018.
Visiting hours were observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Darrell Kelly, SVD, officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Delana Robertson and Terrilyn Bryant.
Gift bearers were Raquel Cormier, Reya Cormier and Bailee Batiste.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Albertha was a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading (until her 92nd birthday), and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for the beautiful hairstyles she created for all the mothers and daughters, and the events they attended.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Marcella Abraham and husband Clarence of Port Arthur, Texas, and Brenda Savoy and (Warren Malveaux) of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Clarence “Duke” Anderson Jr., Monique Anderson, Cleophas Anderson, Clarissa Tolliver, Royce Cormier Jr., Christopher Cormier, Jerry Hawkins Jr., Jana Hawkins and Jarrod Hawkins; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Stella Ned Washington; son, Clarence James Anderson; grandchild, Silas Anderson; sister; Margaret Owens; and brother, Venice Washington.
Pallbearers were Jerry Hawkins Jr., Jarrod Hawkins, Jowin Owens, Jaswin Owens, Tedderick Owens and Parris Yancy.
Honorary pallbearers were Royce Cormier Jr., Christopher Cormier, Clarence Abraham, Wendell Owens, Warren Malveaux, Isaiah Ford, Rodderick Cormier and Clarence Anderson Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
