St. Martinville – Calder Hebert ended his term as Police Chief on Tuesday, June 19. Amid the sounds of turmoil from members of the audience, Joe Nedie was appointed interim chief. All council members except new District 5 representative Edmund Joseph, who abstained, approved the appointment.
Breaux Bridge – St. Martin Parish officials are on a very pleasant mission as they make the rounds of municipal council meetings this month. They are notifying the various government bodies of the share of funding they will receive out of proceeds from the recently-passed bond reassignment.
St. Martinville – The Village of Parks will soon have the funds to make much-needed upgrades to Cecile Rousseau Poché Memorial Park.
St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier and parish council members Neil Thobodeaux and Jason Willis brought the good news to the June 13 Village council meeting. Parks will receive $350,000 from the recent parish bond issue. Five million of the $25 million bond approved by voters last December is earmarked for recreation upgrades.
