Coronavirus spread in Louisiana is third fastest in nation
Governor John Bel Edwards is stating somewhat emphatically that Louisiana is nearing a Corona-crisis. He says the state now has the 3rd fastest-growing COVID-19 caseload in the United States and could get much worse before it gets better.
Governor issues stay-at-home order
Gov. John Bel Edwards has issued a stay at home order for Louisianians during a Sunday afternoon press conference. Trips to the grocery store, convenience store, pharmacy and pick-up by drive-thru at restaurants are still allowed. Food delivery is also allowed as is making medical appointments.
The order, effective thru April 12, begins at 5 p.m. Monday, March 22, but Gov. Edwards urged citizens to start saying home as soon as possible.
Parish offers solutions to lake access
St. Martin Parish government is offering a new proposal to the owners of the boat launch area at Lake Martin.
At the council committee meeting on Feb. 18, Parish President Chester Cedars disclosed ongoing efforts to solve the stalemate that threatens public access to the popular recreation area by entering into an agreement that would absolve owners of liability. The owners have published notices that they will close the ramp and surrounding area to the public at the end of this month.
