FoodNet food drive Dec. 14

Breaux Bridge - The annual FoodNet food drive will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 5:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Home located on Main Street.

The St. Bernard/St. Francis Food Pantry, located at St. Francis Catholic Church, distributes FoodNet donations to the needy in St. Martin Parish throughout the year.

Food collected during the 2010 food drive lasted only a few months, canned foods lasted until June.

Monetary contributions are tax deductible and enable the pantry to purchase additional food to extend distribution.

Between November 2010 through December 2011, the pantry distributed approximately 38,245 lbs. of food to the needy in St. Martin Parish.

Donations of non-perishable food items (with a non-expired shelf life date), personal care items such as toothpaste, tooth- brushes, bar soap and laundry and dish detergent, toilet tissue and monetary donation will be greatly appreciated.

Food collected in St. Martin Parish will stay in the parish and help the needy.
