Lafayette Man Arrested in Connection with June Murder of Kalaan Ruffin

St. Martinville, LA - On August, 13, 2010, Shawn Helaire, Black Male, who resides on 100 block of Chester St., Lafayette, LA. was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in regards to the homicide investigation of Kalaan Ruffin, which occured in June of 2010 off of Prairie Highway. Helaire was taken into custody in Lafayette and was later booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $750,000.00. The incident is still being investigated and additional arrests are probable.
